Emma is a Doctoral Scholar funded by NERC UKRI Environmental Research Scholarship. Emma has a First Class BEng in Civil Engineering, the Institute of Civil Engineers Student Award and a Master's degree in MSc Water Science, Policy & Management from the University of Oxford. She is currently in the third year of a four-year DPhil programme in Atmospheric, Oceanic & Planetary Physics. Her research utilises data-driven machine learning techniques to understand the influence of different atmospheric circulation types on flood extremes in the UK. In addition, she holds the position of Research Assistant for the SPARKS Net Zero project at the University of Oxford, in the Faculty of Law. She has also held several part-time teaching positions at the University of Oxford.
Current Research
Emma is currently working on a NERC UKRI funded project which is focused on using machine learning to explore drivers of hydro-climate extremes. This is supervised by Professor Louise Slater (School of Geography and the Environment, Oxford), Professor Hannah Christensen (Atmospheric, Oceanic and Planetary Physics, Oxford), and Professor Manuela Brunner of ETH, Zurich.
