Extreme climatic events like floods and droughts are severely impacting infrastructure systems, including water supply, energy and transport infrastructure. My group adopts an ‘end-to-end’ systems approach to these problems, developing methodology to analysis the frequency and spatial characteristics of hazards, their risks to infrastructure systems, and possible adaptation responses. We frame these problems as adaptive planning decisions under uncertainty. At the moment we are looking for new doctoral research in water resource systems, nature-based solutions, infrastructure network resilience and supply chain risk analysis. Our research typically involves simulation modelling and large-scale data acquisition techniques.
