I studied an Oceanography BSc at the University of Southampton and graduated top of my year with 1st Class Honours in 2012, receiving the Best Graduating Student Prize. In 2013 I started a Masters by Research at Durham University investigating the use of microalgae to treat end of line sewage waste. The project was in collaboration with Northumbrian Water Ltd., who provided the consumable fund. Additionally I was awarded the Department of Earth Sciences MSc Tuition Fee Waiver and the School of Biological and Biomedical Sciences/Durham Energy provided a maintenance stipend. In 2015 I returned to work at Durham University as a Research Associate on a five month project sponsored by Natural Resources Wales, investigating the use of alginate and clay minerals to strip lead, zinc and cadmium from upland streams contaminated by discontinued mine works.
Current Research
I am currently enrolled on the Physical Climate stream of the Environmental DTP. I am yet to choose a specific DPhil project, however I am interested in how the climate system works, how it is changing and its impact on life on earth, both ecologically and socially.
